Close to Ardfry House is an old castle in ruins near which is St. Breannell’s Well.

The principal roads leading through this parish are from Ballinacoortia and Gort to Galway. The nearest market towns are Claranbridge and Galway.

Middlethird Fort is on the boundary N. of townland. Doonbulkan Fort is S.E. of it close to the sea.

Cahirgall Fort, in which there is a burial ground, stands in this townland and a river on W. called by townland.

E. of townland is a Fort called Cahiradrinny in which is the ruins of an old building supposed to have been the residence of one of the Danish Kings. Cregganna Castle ruins stands S. of townland near the Turlough.
